BERLENGAS ISLAND

eautiful Island worth a visit if you are in Lisbon área. Berlengas with ferry transport from Peniche to Berlengas Island included. Get to know Lisbon and Peniche on a vibrant city. This is a 8 hours Private Tour (from Lisbon to Peniche). Elected long time ago as the main location for diving with a hard hat in the Portuguese coast, the Berlenga waters hide everything the human imagination can create. The Berlenga Island is about 7 miles from the Peniche Port ; it is 1500 meters long and 800 meters wide, with a perimeter of 4000 meters and reaches 88 meters at its highest point and –30 meters at its lowest. It is a region of great interest for botanical specialists with several endemic species and species of limited distribution. A nesting spot for some species of ocean birds, and a passing point for several migratory species. A Maritime Reserve of great wild life richness, particularly ichthyology. The Berlenga Nature Reserve is a unique place due to its transparent sea and underwater treasures. It is a marine reserve and has been classified by the Council of Europe as a "Biosphere Reserve". The archipelago consists of a large island,Berlenga Grande, and some small granite islands and rocks, which are situated some 7 miles off the headland of Cabo Carvoeiro to the north-west of Peniche. The island of Berlenga Grande can be seen from the mainland when there is no sea mist. Here you will find endemic species of flora, as well as one of the preferred nesting sites for sea birds. Built on a rock adjacent to the Berlenga island and connected to it by a small bridge, there stands the Forte de São João Baptista, a Manueline military fortress built in 1502.The island’s tiny beaches with their clear blue sea are very beautiful and ideal for swimming and diving. Access to the island is by boat, with departures from Peniche harbor. It takes roughly 30 minutes to reach Berlenga Grande. For Lunch, there is also a restaurant on the island. You will have of activities to do in the Island as your choice, like kayak, caves visit or a ride on a glass boat and snorkling.
RIBATEJO & FALCONS

Pick up at your Hotel at 8:30AM RIO MAIOR - "SALINAS" In "Salinas" de Rio Maior, we will learn why and how can we have salt, although there is no sea around. The secret is that inside Serra dos Candeeiros, there is a huge Salt Yolk, and with the rain it melts and turns water 7 times more salted than sea water. So from spring till end of summer, due to evaporation, lots of salt can be found there. We will be able to to buy some artifacts made with this product. Little pices of Art, you can take home with you. SANTARÉM - "PORTAS DO SOL" In this little corner of Santarém, we find a wonderful garden, inside the Wall, where we can take a good look at Lezíria of Ribatejo, take wonderful pictures, and relax a little bit. After leaving Santarém, we will visit one of the most typical villages in Ribatejo: SALVATERRA DE MAGOS. In here, we may visit the ROYAL FALCONRY, which has been recognized as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, by UNESCO, in Dec. 2016. FALCOARIA REAL DE SALVATERRA DE MAGOS Here, we can find around 30 species of birds; interactivity of visitors through multimedia elements; flight and training demonstration of several birds; staged “prey capture”. Some more points of interest may be visited for ex: Main church, Royal Ditch Pier and Bridge, Arneiro Fountain. ESCAROUPIM What to do in ESCAROUPIM: - To visit a Typical House of the 30th/40th - - Time as stopped in this house, and everything remains in the same place; clothes, dishes, furniture; To visit the River Museum - In this museum, the history of the fishing art can be learned. Several fishing articles and fishermen clothes can be seen, and we can also know interesting things about the river itself; Depending on the hours and will of the visitors, unforgettable lunch or dinner can be eaten in a lovely and typical restaurant, in ESCAROUPIM Return to Lisbon around 5PM.

We'll start our ALL INCLUDED RIBATEJO ONE DAY TOUR, at EVOA. A paradise, at half an hour from Lisbon. At EVOA, we can watch birds, in their natural habitat, and explore the wild side of Tagus River, and also enjoy the beautiful contrasts and colors of the "Lezíria", by going through its rice fields and meadows. In these visit, that will take 1,30 h – 2 h, and will start according to the tides timetable, we may count on an interpretive guide, with all the necessary equipment to watch, closely, near 200 bird species. After leaving EVOA, our destination is the tipical Ribatejo village of Salvaterra de Magos. Nowadays, the Falconry has its own Treaty and obeys to restricted laws and rules.In our visit to Falcoaria Real of Salvaterra de Magos, which is closely associated to the History of the Country House of the Royalty, we can :see around 30 species of birds;make interactivity through multimedia elements;watch flight and training demonstration, of several birds, aswell as staged “prey capture”.Sometimes, we can also have the pleasure to watch some exhibitions of several and different local artists, inside the Falconry. After leaving the Falconry, we are probably ready for some Portuguese Tipical "Petiscos", for it's Lunch Time After lunch, our Tour continues in the Picturesque Fishermen Village ESCAROUPIM. ESCAROUPIM THE FISHING VILLAGE In this picturesque village, we can find their little, but colorful, houses, built on stakes, to keep them safe during strong winters, when the Tagus River waters invade the whole village. Their fishing boats are also painted with bright colors, to help them to keep going during the difficult winters.What we'll do in ESCAROUPIM:- make a Cruise on the Tagus. During one hour or so, we can admire the river fauna and flora.Little white houses, from the other riverside villages can be seen. Keep your eyes and ears alert, because all kind of birds may, and will, join us in this ride.We may also enjoy a wine tasting during or before/after our cruise. COMPANHIA DAS LEZÍRIAS - Wine and olive oil tasting This is probably the best way to finish our ONE DAY ALL INCLUDED TOUR in Ribatejo. For an hour or so, we will have an extraordinary wine and olive oil tasting, all produced in COMPANHIA DAS LEZÍRIAS, with bread, cheese and some smoked delicatessen, and we might, aswell, have the opportunity to buy those we preferred, and take them back home. Your Private Tour stars at 9:00AM to Solar dos Zagallos (Almada, 20 minutos from Lisbon), an old XVIII century manor house which has been transformed into a Cultural Centre. In this elegant place, which is part of the historic centre of the parish of Sobreda, you will find a very beautiful atmosphere for walking in the gardens or finding out more about traditional art. This is a beautiful and peaceful old house full of history and stories, it will literally take you back in time and you will wish you could be on the 18th century. The gardens are lovely for a walk and the church inside the house is beautiful, peaceful and the tiles are amazing. Also, the ceiling on the house are hand painted and astonishing.
After the Solar visit is time for a Seafood lunch at beach front restaurant in Sesimbra. After Lunch you will visit a Setubal famous Winery for a wine tasting.

We'll leave Lisbon, at A1, till Vila Franca de Xira, then go along the country side until arriving one of the most Tipical Ribatejo villages, Salvaterra de Magos.SALVATERRA DE MAGOS - Royal Falconry, Churches and other interesting spots MISERICÓRDIA CHURCH Dated of the XVII Century, this church had an impressive ceiling in tiles, with Our Lady life steps. MAIN CHURCH (ST.PAUL’S CHURCH) Mother Church of Salvaterra de Magos, was built in the XIII Century and was almost teared down by the huge earthquakes of the XVIII Century. CHAPELL OF THE OLD ROYAL PALACE Temple of Renaissance, built by the orders of Infant D.Lewis, on the XVI Century. ARNEIRO’S FOUNTAIN Built in 1711, this fountain was the only place where people could get water, in the entire village. PIER AND BRIDGE OF THE ROYAL DITCH Here was the ditch where the Royal Family would arrive, from Lisbon, by boat, for their leisure evenings (Opera and Theater), aswell as their hunting with the hawks.
